AISAKU YOKOGAWA @ The 5th Backdoor Ventures ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL
"Aisaku Yokogawa, a twentyish full-blooded Japanese lad whose meek demeanor belies a well-trained voice (the likes of Basil Valdez), an easy way of drawing audience reaction (Kung nahihirapan kayong tandaan ang aking pangalan, sabihin nyo na lang, 'Ay sako ng bigas.'), and flawless tagalog despite being born to and raised by Japanese parents. All the more amazing was that his repertoire consisted Latin ditties that as translated to Pilipino constituted tongue-twisters which even natural-born Tagalog singers would have a hard time doing - especially more so when done in this bossa nova & jazz style." - From the Manila Times 09/03/09 By Mao Gia Samonte
Awarded 2009 Global Excellence Award (with Ms. Claire De La Fuente) as 'Outstanding Young Asian Performing Artist'. A pure Japanese who sings Tagalog and Japanese oldies favorites with a taste of Jazz. Inspired by the greats such as Mel Torme, Frank Sinatra. He also performs in local T.V. and Major Concerts. His tradewark is his Tagalog classics and OPMs arranged in a jazzy way, another face of Aisaku is the 'SALINAWIT' which are foreign songs translated to Tagalog by great writers such as Mr. Pete Lacaba (National Artist).
Active in volunteer work and church ministry, Aisaku is currently performing in various stages locally and internationally such as the International Jazz Festival, Teatrino/Music Museum (w/ the Manila Symphony Orchestra, Richard Poon, Jed Madela, Bayang Barrios, Olivia and other artists) while studying Theatre Arts. Not limiting himself to performing arts, Aisaku is also a known Art director/ Graphic/Web designer. He will be releasing an album soon with a popular cover of OPM/Japanese songs. Watch out for his first single release of 'MULI' (written and composed by Mr. Vehnee Saturno and Freddie Saturno) on November in partnership with "No To Violence Against Women" Project.
